Liposuction Surgery in Fort Collins

What is liposuction?

Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery procedure that relies on body contouring. This technique reshapes the body's appearance by removing excess fat from stubborn parts of the body. Diet and exercise cannot target specific areas of the body; that's where liposuction comes in.  Liposuction firms up stubborn areas that are difficult to tone due to aging. Liposuction targets the stubborn stomach, arms, legs, flanks, face and neck.

What are the different body contouring techniques?

When weighing the body contouring options, it is important to determine which liposuction technique is best for the patient's desired outcome. This is true of traditional liposuction techniques and cutting edge medical technology. There are two key differences between the available surgical techniques. The distinguishing difference between liposuction techniques is the size of the incision and cannula used, and the solution used to assist in breaking up the fatty deposits. A cannula is an instrument used to perform liposuction. It is a thin metal tube that is inserted through the incisions; suction then removes the fat.

Advancements in cosmetic surgery have led to new innovations in liposuction. Currently, there are several techniques available. Our board-certified surgeons specialize in more than one liposuction techniques: tumescent liposuction, standard liposuction with the use of a salt water, adrenaline and anesthetic solution to help numb the area and break up fat deposits. As medical technology continues to evolve, advancements in cosmetic procedures are inevitable. Our plastic surgeons are experts at recognizing which new techniques will provide the best results. Liposuction candidates want the best results post - surgery. Sometimes achieving the desired outcome utilizes time-tested techniques instead of new techniques.

What do I look for in a cosmetic surgeon?

The technique is only one element that influences the outcome of body contouring results. Beyond the type of liposuction technique used, the patient's results are dependent on the skill of their surgeon.  How to choose a cosmetic surgeon? Look to the doctor's years of experience, the number of procedures performed, and testimonials from former patients.  As an exceptionally skilled, board-certified plastic surgeon, all of our surgeons combine their years of experience and training in hundreds of liposuction procedures to determine which liposuction technique will be best for each individual patient's desired outcome.

What should I expect at a liposuction consultation?
